CHRISTIE’S, 08.05.2013- L’asta ha archiviato $158,505,000 (£101,443,200 /€120,463,800) con un venduto del 94% per lotto. 4 lotti sono stati aggiudicati oltre 10 milioni di dollari, 10 per oltre 5 milioni, 36 oltre 1 milione. “Le petit pâtissier” di Chaïm Soutine, aggiudicato a $18,043,750, è stato il top price della vendita e ha realizzato un nuovo record mondiale per l’artista in asta. “Madame Matisse au kimono”, il ritratto della Signora Matisse realizzato da André Derain, uno dei top lot più acclamati prima dell’asta, era stimato 15-20 milioni di dollari ed è rimasto al palo. Molti bidders hanno lottato testa a testa per opere classiche impressioniste di Monet, Sisley e Renoir, per opere moderne di Picasso, Léger e Miró, e per i capolavori della Scuola di Parigi di Modigliani, Soutine e Chagall.

SOTHEBY’S, 07.05.2013 – L’asta ha totalizzato $230,040,000 con partecipazioni da 35 Paesi, molti bidders provenienti da America Latina e Asia. I lotti della collezione di Alex ed Elizabeth Lewyt hanno realizzato 88.6 milioni $. Il Léger di Madonna è stato venduto per 7.2 milioni $ e il ricavato andrà in beneficenza per la Fondazione della cantante “Ray of Light”.  Top price “Les pommes” di Paul Cézanne con $41,605,000 (stima $25/35 milioni). Molti offerenti hanno lottato per l’amazzone di Amedeo Modigliani che è stata aggiudicata a $25,925,000 (stima  $20/30 milioni). Il ritratto della giovane musa di Picasso,Sylvette, è passato di mano per $13,605,000 (stima $12/18 milioni).  “Paysage à La Ciotat” un raro esempio di lavoro fauve di Georges Braque ha realizzato un nuovo record mondiale per l’artista con $15,845,000. L’opera ha realizzato un prezzo 5 volte superiore a quello che raggiunse nel 2000 quando fu venduta, sempre da Sotheby’s a New York, per $3 milioni

Grande attesa per l’asta serale di Sotheby’s dedicata agli impressionisti e all’arte moderna, che si terra’ il 7 maggio presso la sede newyorchese della compagnia. Tra i capolavori presentati, due opere della collezione dei filantropi Alex ed Elizabeth Lewyt, trai i più’ grandi collezionisti degli anni ’50-’60 a New York: “Les Pommes” di Paul Cezanne, del valore stimato attorno ai 25-35 milioni di dollari, e “L’Amazzone” di Amedeo Modigliani, opera che vale 20-30 milioni. L’asta serale presenterà’ una selezione di 20 dipinti appartenenti alla collezione dei Lewyt. I proventi della vendita di tali opere saranno devoluti a una fondazione benefica che supportera’ le cause a cui i proprietari dei dipinti tenevano molto, in particolare la protezione degli animali.
Sotheby’s mettera’ all’asta 71 opere, tra sculture, disegni e dipinti. “Il valore totale delle opere e’ di circa 160 milioni di dollari” ha detto a Artslife David C. Norman, vice presidente di Sotheby’s Nord e Sud America e presidente della sezione dedicata agli impressionisti ed all’arte moderna. “I piu’ grossi buyer vengono dall’America e dall’Europa. Nonostante la crisi sia ancora pesante nel Vecchio Continente, la parte piu’ ricca della popolazione ha ancora i mezzi finanziari per acquistare opere d’arte” ha aggiunto Norman.
“Les Pommes”, realizzato da Cezanne nel 1889-90, e’ una della nature morte più’ perfette dipinte dall’artista, che esplora i paradossi delle forme nello spazio, ispirandosi al cubismo di Picasso e Braque.
“L’Amazzone” e’ uno dei primi capolavori di Modigliani ed una delle piu’ potenti immagini di una donna realizzate dall’artista. Dipinto nel 1909, ritrae la baronessa Marguerite de Hasse de Villers, grande esponente dell’alta societa’ del tempo. La donna posa in abiti da cavallerizza ed ha una mano con guanto nero posata sui fianchi.
Tra le altre opere che saranno messe all’asta, la scultura “Sylvette” realizzata da Pablo Picasso, che si e’ ispirato alla sua vicina 20enne a Vallauris Sylvette David: una delle interpretazioni piu’ potenti del volto umano, il cui valore si stima attorno ai 12-18 milioni. L’artista ha fornito una visione creativa della coda di cavallo bionda della giovane e della sua maglietta bianca e blu in stile marinaro. Delle quattro sculture in metallo che raffigurano Sylvette, questa e’ probabilmente la piu’ complessa ed offre due interpretazioni simultanee del volto della donna.
L’asta includerà’ tre bronzi superbi di “The Gates of Hell” di Auguste Rodin, “Trois Femmes a’ la Table” di Fernand Leger, “Eglogue en Provence – Un Couple d’Amoureux” di Vincent van Gogh, “Paysage a’ La Ciotat” di Georges Braque, “Eloge de la Melancolie” di Paul Delvaux, “Buste d’Homme” di Picasso ed altri capolavori di Francis Picabia, Rene’ Magritte, Max Ernst, Joan Miro’.
