- Durante la vendita di Dipinti Europei da Sotheby’s, i pittori danesi hanno realizzato risultati inaspettati. “Ida Reading a Letter” di Vilhelm Hammershøi è stato venduto per £ 1,721,250 (US$ 2,677,232) partendo da una stima di £500,000-700,000. Ha stabilito il nuovo record mondiale per l’artista all’asta e il nuovo record mondiale per un’opera d’arte danese venduta all’asta.
E’ stato venduto a un collezionista privato, ma prima dell’aggiudicazione se lo sono conteso tre bidders al telefono. Il prezzo realizzato ha superato di tre volte il record precedente dell’artista, che era stato realizzato sempra da Sotheby’s nel giugno 2006 (£590,400.)
In totale i dipinti di Vilhelm Hammershøi in catalogo erano cinque e hanno realizzato complessivamente £ 4,313,450
