Di sicuro i fumetti dipinti da Lichtenstein riscuotono maggior successo. Non è andata certo al massimo la serata del 4 luglio 2012 a Parigi da Sotheby’s con la prima asta dedicata ai fumetti. La platea degli appassionati e collezionisti, attentissimi alla qualità e alle quotazioni, hanno lasciato unsold ben 68 lotti sui 95 presentati in catalogo. Tra i 27 venduti alcuni hanno invece superato le stime. Il collezionismo di comics è un settore altamente specializzato e non è facile reperire materiale molto interessante. Top price il lotto 6 Hergé Georges Rémi Dit (1907- 1983) Les Aventures de Tintin L’Etoile  Mystérieuse, 1941 stimato 220-240 mila euro e aggiudicato a  234,759 €. Totale incasso della serata: 645,225 €

PRESENTAZIONE DELL’ASTA

Parigi, 4 luglio 2012

L’asta si presenta come una sorta di catalogo ragionato dei primi cent’anni della storia del fumetto. Tra i primi lotti – è del 1833 – firmato  da  Rodolphe Töpffer, il primo album a fumetti di cui si abbia notizia L’Histoire de M. Jabot,  stimato €16.000-18.000. Segue un album di Hergé del 1929 TinTin in the Land of the Soviets (stimato €40.000-45.000), tavole da  Babar l’elefante disegnate da Laurent de Brunhoff, una selezione di disegni di Hugo Pratt con il suo leggendario eroe Corto Maltese, personaggio che apparve per la prima volta nel 1967 in Una ballata del mare salato, pubblicato in Sgt. Kirk, una rivista lanciata dallo stesso Hugo Pratt.

L’intera asta è dedicata a Moebius (Jean Giraud), scomparso nel marzo di quest’anno. Dell’artista francese sarà in asta l’eccezionale copertina de La Déviation (Humanoïdes Associés,1980) stimata €45.000-55.000.

Jean-Marc Thévenet ha commentato: ‘The auction reflects our conviction that Comic Strips have become an art-form in their own right. The lots selected reflect a certain approach to what Rodolphe Töpffer, the acknowledged father of the comic strip, called literature in prints – retracing their development over the decades through works by Hergé, Franquin, Moebius and Enki Bilal, and ending with today’s generation of comic strip artists. Our strategy is to offer rare works – like a magnificent Hergé drawing from The Crab with the Golden Claws; the exceptional cover of La Déviation by the French comic strip artist Moebius, who passed away on 10 March 2012; and plates from key moments in comic strip history. There will also be paintings, full-length stories and unusual works, such as the amazing Milou poetry album containing Hergé’s earliest drawings. The sale also features artists who made a key impact on the dynamic development of graphic art, like the Bazooka Group, who sent shockwaves around the art world in the late 1970s… In short, the sale aims to be a catalogue raisonné of the First One Hundred Years of Comic Strips!’
